The Ponds is a suburb in western Sydney, catering to a complete spectrum of community needs. MARKHAM was involved in increasing concrete durability at both the shopping centre and the aged care facility.
AQURON 2000 was used at The Ponds Aged Care Facility for concrete curing, and sealing against moisture contamination. This treatment turns all available moisture down to 150mm in the concrete, into a gel, which blocks porosities and eventually becomes part of the concrete itself.
This is the FLOOR-TECT system. During construction, the system provides protection to newly installed floor coverings from moisture that may still be present in the slab. It locks up moisture and prevents it from damaging adhesives.
Later on in the building’s life, the same system continues to protect the concrete. If food spills or biofluids were to seep beneath the flooring, they are blocked from penetrating deep into the concrete. This reduces the risk of not being able to remove bacterial odours whenever a room is refitted and flooring removed.
FLOOR-TECT delivers immediate and long-term benefits, for both the project manager and the asset owner.
