Wind Turbine Bases Involve Mass Concrete Pours

Mass concrete pours for wind turbine bases typically involve large cubic meterages of continuously placed concrete and many tonnes of steel reinforcement.

These massive gravity footings require meticulous temperature control to prevent thermal cracking and ensure structural integrity over their operational lifespan.

Assisting Concrete Hydration with Hydrogel Admixture

AQURON 300 admixture was specified for the Rush Wall Lane concrete raft and turbine base. This was to reduce drying shrinkage, reduce the heat of hydration and achieve early strength gains.

Immediate Project Benefits

Using AQURON 300 helped allow ~690m3 to be poured in one day without any surface cracking, and to be installed ahead of schedule.
