MARKHAM Case Study – Havre des Pas

Havre des Pas protecting concrete exposed to marine conditions

When a 130-year-old sea wall in St Helier, Jersey faced severe Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR) damage, MARKHAM stepped in with a sustainable solution. The challenge? Halt ongoing degradation and protect this iconic coastal structure without disrupting its public use.

Our answer was a deep-penetrating hydrogel treatment applied directly to the concrete capping. This VOC-free, non-hazardous system penetrates up to 150mm, delivering long-term durability and waterproofing—even under harsh tidal conditions. The result: a maintenance-free solution that safeguards the structure for its remaining lifespan, without harming the environment or interrupting the Lido’s operations.

This project reflects our mission: Adding Life to Concrete. A practical combination of innovation, sustainability, and respect for heritage.
